With the cold winter months being left in the wind, the Residence Hall Council decided to have some fun on St. Patrick’s Day. On March 17, the RHC hosted a campus-wide Area Party from 6-8 p.m. The event featured food, games, and even a surprise karaoke at the end of the night.
With how much thought and effort went into this event, it took a lot of brainstorming by the RHC team.
“My council and I really looked into what our residents were interested in doing,” said Amy Martinez, RHC president. “We really wanted to bring all of the areas together, whether they were from Towers or Evans.”
She also explained how they chose the date.
“We decided that St. Patrick’s Day would be a day where we could get everyone together and do a good theme for the Area Party.”
The JPAC was decorated in green, and there was a door prize that attendees could enter only if they were wearing something green.
“My favorite part of the night was the end of the night when someone asked to do karaoke,” Martinez mentioned.
“In the beginning, there were students having fun, playing games, and some won prizes. But at the end of the night, we really got to know each other.
“I personally got to know some new names and faces that I hope to be seeing in RHC or around campus.” However, there was also a lot of
hype for the party the week before with RHC’s Spirit Week.
“For Spirit Week, we wanted to get everyone involved since Spring Fling is coming up this Friday,” Martinez
said. “So we wanted to get some students involved, get to know RHC, and be able to come to the Area Party, as we wanted a good turnout and Spirit Week was the best way to do it.”
RHC will host more events this semester, with the next one being a Rita’s Ice Pop-Up on March 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 pm at the SUB.
