The Wilkes University women’s ice hockey team achieved numerous milestones this season, finishing atop the MAC Conference standings and winning back-to-back conference championships.
A major reason for the Colonels’ success was junior forward Haylee Bouchard, a native of Sioux Lookout, Ontario.
Bouchard finished her junior season with 53 points, helping lead the Colonels to another outstanding year. She currently holds program records for goals (55), assists (67), points (122), and points per game (1.47).
Her production took a major leap from sophomore to junior year, improving from 32 points to 53 points in just 28 games. According to Bouchard, one of the biggest factors behind her growth was her desire to continually improve.
“I believe I learned a lot about myself within a year and what pushes me to be better. I believe my drive is what has grown the most,” Bouchard said.
Bouchard’s standout season earned her several honors. She was named First Team East Region, MAC Offensive Player of the Year, and a 2025–26 All-MAC First Team selection. She was also selected to the CCM Hockey/AHCA All-American Team and named a Laura Hurd Award finalist during her junior campaign.
Despite the individual recognition, Bouchard credited her teammates for much of her success both on and off the ice.
“My team throughout my time at Wilkes has been everything. I am so blessed that I have had the opportunity to be close with each of the people I have played with, as it has had such a positive impact on my life,” Bouchard said.
Bouchard’s consistent work ethic and commitment to the program paid off throughout the season. Developing chemistry with her linemates also played a major role in the team’s offensive success.
“Working on new plays and ideas with my lines or special teams, I love to try and give my best input into creating and assisting plays,” Bouchard said.
Heading into her senior season with the Colonels, Bouchard hopes to continue building on the success she and the program have achieved over the past two years.
Because of her play this season, Bouchard has been named The Beacon’s Women’s Athlete of the Year.
