Tonight, the future stars of the National Football League will be on full display as the NFL Draft descends upon Pittsburgh
Many teams are rumored to be locked in and staying put, while other teams are motivated to trade up in the draft to select the player they are eying. Here are the predicted picks ahead of tomorrow’s draft in the Steel City.
Pick One – Las Vegas Raiders: The Raiders have the number-one pick in this year’s draft. Fernando Mendoza under Klint Kubiak is the unanimous decision. Grabbing a quarterback with some solid pieces around such as Brock Bowers, Tyler Linderbaum at center and Ashton Jeanty in the backfield will be entertaining.
Pick Two – New York Jets: The Jets have an amazing opportunity to go defense and Arvell Reese seems the most likely, with some smoke around David Bailey at edge. The smokescreen is real, and the Jets select David Bailey over Arvell Reese with the second pick.
Pick Three – Arizona Cardinals: With the Cardinals at three, Arvell Reese falls into their lap, and Arizona jumps on the Ohio State phenom to help their defense. Reese provides versatility as an edge rusher and linebacker, but playing him at one position will help maximize his true potential.
Pick Four – Tennessee Titans: The Titans are in a new era, and this is an opportunity to help Cam Ward develop in year one with Brian Daboll as the team’s new offensive coordinator. Jerimayeh Love is an all-around great player, and his dynamic to run home run-like touchdowns will help Ward and the Titans’ new-look offense.
Pick Five – New York Giants: With Jerimayeh Love off the board, the Giants can now shift their focus to take the best linebacker in the class with Sonny Styles. Styles does not miss tackles, and pairing Styles with Edmunds immediately helps the Giants’ run defense and adds a key piece to Dennard Wilson’s defense.
Pick Six – Chiefs Trade Up (Browns’ original pick): The Chiefs missing the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era will lead to them getting aggressive in the draft. Trading with the Browns helps Kansas City land Mansoor Delane, one of the best cornerbacks in the class to be Trent McDuffie’s replacement.
Pick Seven – Washington Commanders: The Commanders have an opportunity to land the top wide receiver from Ohio State, Carnell Tate. Getting a weapon for Jayden Daniels will help elevate this already solid offense.
Pick Eight – New Orleans Saints: Rueben Bain Jr. is waiting to be selected, and the Saints land a great player. Bain brings an identity and can get to the quarterback at a high level. Strong pick-up here heading to the NFC North. Some teams worry about his small arm length, but his explosiveness is NFL-caliber.
Pick Nine – Cleveland Browns (Chiefs’ original pick) The Browns trade back three spots, and the first offensive lineman goes in the draft with Monroe Freeling as Sheduer Sanders’s blindside protector. The Browns must clean up their offensive line if they want success out of Sanders and Freeling could help make that happen.
Pick 10 – New York Giants (Trade with Cincinnati): The Giants acquired the 10th pick on April 19 by trading Dexter Lawrence to Cincinnati–an absolute blockbuster move. Jordyn Tyson is a great option for the Giants as they address their defense with Styles at five. Now, Cam Skattebo and Tyson reunite and build an explosive offense. Despite injuries, Tyson is one of the most electric weapons in this class and will give Jaxson Dart an elite wide receiver next to Malik Nabers.
Pick 11: Miami Dolphins: A new era is in Miami with Jeff Hafley and getting his hands on another elite receiver to bolster this offense is the right move. Makai Lemon is one of the best at his position and brings elite catching ability. A pro comparison is Amon-Ra St. Brown, and this will add a weapon for quarterback Malik Willis.
Pick 12: Dallas Cowboys: Caleb Downs is a great prospect for Dallas because of the need in their secondary. The Cowboys could not defend last season in the run game. Dallas allowed the 23rd most rushing yards per game and 6.1 yards per play (2nd most), and Downs can help in many ways with his ballhawk ability and being able to fix their defense.
Pick 13: Los Angeles Rams: The Rams traded for Trent McDuffie to bolster their defense and give themselves more of a chance to get to the Super Bowl next season. Beefing up the offensive line should be their target, and taking an elite tackle who can also slot in at guard with Francis Mauioga is where McVay and his staff go.
Pick 14: Baltimore Ravens: With the departure of John Harbaugh the first pick for the Baltimore Ravens under Jesse Minter is Olavavega Ioane. Adding an offensive line to this team helps Lamar Jackson use his legs less and still be a top quarterback. Many times this past season, Jackson was scrambling due to the line breaking down.
Pick 15: Tampa Bay Buccaneers: No more Mike Evans in Florida, and Baker Mayfield needs a new number one weapon. The top tight end in the draft is a great route for the team to go to. Kenyon Sadiq had 560 yards this past season and a career-high eight touchdowns, which can be key for this Buccaneers offense. He broke the 40-yard dash record, which was previously held by Vernon Davis (4.39 seconds).
Pick 16: New York Jets: Jermod McCoy sitting at pick 12 would help the Jets’ defense tremendously. The Jets were unable to get Delane, but getting a second-team All-American in 2024 and now being healthy will help the Jets’ defense and cause turnovers. Injuries may be a talking point during the process of this pick, but McCoy is elite.
