With two weeks left in the spring semester, Wilkes University spring sports are past their halfway mark already. Let’s check in with our teams and see how they’ve been doing to this point.
Both the men’s and women’s Lacrosse teams are in their first season with new head coaches as Jordan and Taylor Drumheller take charge in 2026
The men’s team is trying to find their way as they are currently 4-10 on the year, but a bright spot for the Colonels this season has been freshman Anthony DiFrancesco, who has 30 goals through and 17 assists through 14 games played.

The women’s team has had success this season after an 8-0 start which was the best in program history, but since starting Landmark Conference play, they have yet to win a game.
Most notably for the Colonels this season, graduate student Alexis Guttilla leads the team in goals with 32.
Softball currently stands at a 14-11 record and a 3-5 conference record. Most recently they split a senior day doubleheader against Misericordia.
The team holds both current Athletes of the Week with Hana Cross and Mia Butka earning those honors, as chosen by the Beacon staff.
Some seniors have also hit milestones this season as both Cross and Olivia Dougher both reached 100 career hits this season. Head coach Jackie Klahold also reached 200 career wins in the team’s win against Widener on March 30
After a few bumps in the road early on, Wilkes Baseball has gotten better each game. They are currently 12-3 in the Landmark, with their two ace pitchers Zach Lloyd and AJ Levandoski recently reaching 100 career strikeouts.

Men’s Volleyball wrapped their season on April 2nd as they defeated cross-town rival King’s College in four sets. They finished the season with a 13-15 overall record and did not eclipse a win in conference play
Freshman Logan Maha led the team in points with 255.8, adding 178 kills in a very impressive rookie season.
Spring seasons for both Men’s and Women’s tennis have been in full swing as well. The women’s team is currently 3-5 in their spring slate of matches, while the men are 1-4 overall as a team.
Lastly, both the Men’s and Women’s golf teams are in the Spring portion of their seasons as well. The men are 2-1 while the women are 2-0. Kyleen McCance has continued her long-lasting run of form, leading the Colonels almost every time they’re in the tee box.
There are lots of bright spots for spring sports here at Wilkes University so far. With under half a season remaining this semester, we’ll see how the squads fair the rest of the month.
