It has been an action packed week in NCAA Men’s Basketball, with the Sweet 16 wrapping up last Friday and the Elite Eight this past weekend.
The Final Four is set as Illinois faces off against UConn while Michigan takes on Arizona. Here is a look at how these teams got to this point.
One of the most anticipated matchups of the Sweet 16 was St. John’s taking on Duke in the Sweet 16. St John’s has become a fan favorite and Duke struggled a bit to make it to the Sweet 16.
The Blue Devils took care of business beating the Red Storm 80-75. Next up for Duke was a matchup against UConn. In arguably the best game of the weekend, UConn came back from a 15-point halftime deficit to beat Duke.
Braylon Mullins hit the game winning three pointer for the Huskies with less than a second remaining to clinch the 73-72 victory.
On Friday we saw No. 1 seed Michigan continue to dominate in the Sweet 16 as they took down Alabama 90-77
They kept that rolling into Sunday as they put up an impressive performance once again defeating Tennessee 95-62 who took down the number two seed Iowa State on Friday.
Arizona continued to roll on Saturday beating Purdue 79-64
Number nine Iowa made it all the way to the Elite Eight after taking down the defending champions Florida last Sunday after defeating No.4 Nebraska on March 26. Their run came to an end this past Saturday as Illinois beat them 71-59.
The Final Four is set and will begin on Saturday as Illinois takes on UConn at 6:09 p.m., followed by Michigan and Arizona at 8:49 p.m.
UConn is coming off their huge comeback win against Duke, while Illinois has clawed their way through the tournament
Michigan looks to be the best team so far as they have put up 90+ points in their four games throughout the tournament. Arizona has also looked very dominant offensively so this matchup should be a high scoring affair.
The 2026 National Championship is just a few days away and on Monday, April 6, we’ll finally know who is the best in the nation.
