The Wilkes women’s hockey team continued their stretch of home games on Friday night, defeating King’s College 8-1 on Senior Day.
With two goals in each of the first two periods, as well as four in the final period, the Colonels clinched their 11th win in a row and improved their record to 20-1-1, continuing the best season in program history.
Megan Bell began the scoring for the home side with her first of two on the evening just under six minutes into the first period. Nina Hudakova scored roughly 10 minutes later to give the Colonels a 2-0 advantage before the break.
Jordan Ferry made some noise under 10 minutes into the second period to make it 3-0. She scored her second goal of the night, lighting the lamp with under four seconds left in the period to make it 4-0 going into the second intermission.
The Colonels made it 5-0 when Bell scored once more early in the third period. Just two minutes later, Ferry scored her third goal of the night, clinching the hat trick off a wrist shot that was sent upstairs.
With less than five minutes left in the contest, Hudakova joined Haylee Bouchard as the only two players in program history to reach 20 goals in a season, tying the latter’s record.
King’s answered back with a tally of their own from Abby Barlocker, which proved to be a consolation goal.
Renee Ng finished the onslaught for the Colonels with less than two minutes left in the game with a goal of her own to make it 8-1.
