October is coming to a close, which means November will be here before we know it. With the turn of the month comes the beginning of winter sports at Wilkes.
Soon enough, hockey, wrestling and basketball will be in the thick of it, but for now, it’s time to roundup the latest scores in the final weeks of the fall sports season.
Oct. 19:
Women’s golf grabbed two more wins in what has been an extraordinary fall season for the Colonels. They defeated both Marywood and Moravian in a tri-match. Men’s and women’s tennis competed in the Wilkes Doubles Invitational as well. Their season is now over until the spring.
Oct. 20:
No events scheduled.
Oct. 21:
The Tuesday night slate of Landmark soccer continued on as both the men’s and women’s teams faced off against the University of Scranton. However, things were not going to go the way of the Colonels as the men’s team lost 0-5 at home. On the road, the women’s team took a 0-4 defeat against the Royals.
Oct. 22:
Women’s tennis and field hockey were both at the Ralston Athletic Complex on a chilly Wednesday evening. Tennis took a 1-6 loss against East Stroudsburg, while field hockey took a 0-2 defeat against the University of Scranton in their ‘Pink Game’ for cancer awareness.

No events scheduled.
Oct. 24:
The lone regular-season game of the night was women’s volleyball on the road against Lycoming. In a five set thriller, the Colonels left Williamsport with the win. In preseason women’s hockey, the team grabbed a 7-3 win over Albertus Magnus.
Oct. 25:
Always the busiest day of the week for Wilkes Athletics, Oct. 25 was no different. Men’s and Women’s golf competed at the Landmark Conference Fall preview, concluding their fall season. Women’s volleyball traveled to Juniata, losing 0-3. Field hockey faced Moravian at home, losing a tight one, 0-1. Women’s and men’s soccer also traveled to moravian, bringing home a 3-2 win and 1-2 loss, respectively back to Wilkes-Barre. Football was on the road at Lycoming and took a 21-31 defeat.
Looking Ahead:
Women’s Volleyball will finish their season on Nov. 1. Men’s and women’s soccer, as well as field hockey are also nearing the end of their 2025 campaigns. Golf is now done after competing at the Landmark Fall Preview. This week, men’s and women’s ice hockey return to play, with football coming back home after three weeks away from Schmidt Stadium.
It will be their Senior Day. In the pool, both men’s and women’s swimming & diving will return to action on Nov. 1.
