It may be hard to believe that it’s week three of the fall sports season, but for Wilkes, it’s a continuation of what has proven to be an entertaining semester so far for the Colonels. Let’s take a look at how the teams fared in the past week.
Sept. 14:
Day two of the King’s Men’s Invitational saw the Colonels complete play in the tournament at Kirby Park, just a short walk from campus.
In doubles, men’s tennis saw two duos of finalists, with the doubles teams of Cole Riley/Sebastian Sylvester and Otarhe Okoh/Landon Gleichauf. In singles action, Sylvester and Luke Meissner were finalists as well.
Field hockey hosted its senior day, taking on DeSales. After a goal from Taylor Bower made it a 1-2 game, the away side scored the final, and winning goal late in the game to secure a 1-3 Colonels defeat.

Men’s golf continued the matchup with King’s as they took on the Monarchs at the Wyoming Valley Country Club. A slim match saw the Colonels come home with a 319-327 win.
Sept. 19:
Women’s tennis, back at home to take on Bryn Mawr lost a hard fought dual match, 1-6.
Sept. 20:
The day was filled with action, as almost all fall sports programs were competing. Starting off with tennis, both the men’s and women’s team took part in the Dutchman Invitational, a co-ed tournament. Wilkes took 73 total game wins, finishing third in group a. In group b play, the Colonels placed third, with 54 total game wins.
Women’s volleyball took their win streak into Lancaster in a tri-match against Lancaster Bible College and Rutgers-Newark. After beating Rutgers and losing to Lancaster Bible, the team came away with a split.
Football was back home after a tough defeat against The College of New Jersey a week prior. After a slow start on offense, the Colonels and quarterback Cooper King got things churning in the second half, ultimately losing 18-26, despite an almost 200 yard, two touchdown performance from King.
Men’s soccer went to Maryland to take on Hood College, coming back to Pa. with a 1-2 loss. Women’s soccer were back in front of the Bruggeworth faithful, taking a 4-1 win.
Women’s golf took on Misericordia, University of Scranton and Marywood in a quad-match. Shooting 388 on the day, it was good enough to beat the Cougars and Pacers, but not enough to sweep, losing by 18 shots to the Royals.
Field Hockey was in Danbury, Ct. to take on Western Connecticut State. After going down 0-2 early on, the Colonels were able to score three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 win away from home.
