Meet Matthew Lindo, a junior accounting major from Hazlet, New Jersey. Although he is a junior, he is making his soccer debut as a midfielder for the Wilkes’ Men’s Soccer Team. Lindo is new to the soccer team as he originally came to Wilkes for wrestling and was a member of the team his freshman and sophomore year, until he realized that soccer was his true passion. Matt has been playing soccer since he was two years old and looks forward to playing the game he truly loves.

: What is your favorite memory at Wilkes?

Matthew:

My favorite memory at Wilkes was joining the soccer team and getting back on a sports team.

: How is the transition from the wrestling team to the soccer team?

Matthew:

The transition to soccer has been hard because I had to meet new people and get used to the field size but I am adjusting pretty well.

Beacon:

How do you balance school, soccer, and having a social life?

Matthew:

Balancing school, soccer, and a social life is quite difficult, but during the season I have a set routine every day so it’s easy to keep my focus on everything.

What is your favorite pump up song before a game?

Matthew:

My favorite pump up song before a game is My Time by Fabolous.

What is your favorite quote?

Matthew:

My favorite quote is, “The man on top of the mountain didn’t just fall there.”

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Matthew:

I would choose Lionel Messi as my mentor.

Beacon:

If you won the lottery what is the first thing you would do?

Matthew:

If I won the lottery the first thing I would do is pay off my college debt.

Do you like playing outdoors more than being inside in a gym on a mat?

Matthew:

I like playing outdoors better than being on a mat because I love being in the sun and running around.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Matthew:

I want to be a successful accountant and stockbroker when I grow up.

Beacon:

Are there any special foods you eat before a game?

Matthew: Before a game I always have to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch.

Beacon: What do you miss most about home when you’re here at Wilkes?

Matthew: When I am at Wilkes I miss my friends and family back home the most.

Beacon: What’s the best gift you ever received?

Matthew:

The best gift I ever received was my beats headphones because I am always listening to music.

What is your favorite class you have taken at Wilkes?

Matthew:

My favorite class at Wilkes was my Psych 101 class with Dr. Charnetski.
