Wilkes University’s produce pop-up will return to campus this week, offering students free groceries and an opportunity to earn additional service hours through volunteering.
The first Produce Pop-Up of the spring semester will take place Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., during club hours, on the first floor of the Henry Student Center. The event is open to all Wilkes students at no cost.
The distribution will include fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, milk, canned goods and other pantry items. Students may fill one bag, either their own or one provided at the event. To participate, students must scan a QR code at the distribution table, which helps maintain the funding for future Produce Pop-Ups.
Students may earn additional hours of service by volunteering at the event. Volunteers assist with setup, distribution and cleanup throughout the four-hour window. Organizers are seeking additional volunteers for Wednesday’s distribution.
Students interested in volunteering should email [email protected] by Tuesday and include the block of time they are available between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
If students are unable to make it to the Produce Pop-Up this week, there are 2 other events to look forward to in the future. The remaining Produce Pop-Ups will occur Wednesdays, Mar. 18 and Apr. 22 during club hours on the first floor of the Henry Student Center.
Students may RSVP for any of these dates by emailing [email protected]. Students are encouraged to attend the Produce Pop-Up and take advantage of the available resources; students may stop by at any point during the distribution window.
