This week for Fork Around and Find Out, I went to the Anthracite Cafe on Scott Street in Wilkes-Barre for a very special event, my 21st birthday.
I was super excited for this review because not only did I get to review food at the Anthracite, but I also got the chance to
review for the first time ever, an alcoholic beverage.
The restaurant is very spacious, having two bars and multiple different rooms to sit in while enjoying their delicious food.
The Anthracite also has a wing night, which happened to be the night we went.
What’s special about Wing Night is that it discounts wings to 80 cents a wing.
I first ordered my drink, which was a lavender lemon drop martini. I had very high expectations for this drink, especially as this was my first drink ever ordering out at a bar. I also ordered water with a lemon to stay extra hydrated.
The martini was very pretty looking. It was a pale purple and smelled delicious.
I took my first sip, and it was not exactly what I was expecting. It was very strong as far as the lavender avor went. However, it was still good; in fact, my mom shared it with me.
The Anthracite also has various draft beers to choose from, as well as craft beers.
I settled with a Miller Lite for the end of my dinner since I shared the martini. (I would like to put out a disclaimer that I do not condone drinking and driving, and that I did have a designated driver for the whole entire night.)
Our food then came out, and we got a variety of wings and appetizers. I ordered a bacon ranch dry-rub wing and another called the sweet tooth.
The wings were absolutely phenomenal. The wings were crispy and had so much flavor. The dry rub was so flavorful and had little bacon bits that added a nice smoky touch. The sweet tooth was maple syrup-based and equally delicious. It was the perfect sweet and salty combination.
We also got macaroni and cheese logs, which are said to always be a hit and they were certainly right about that. The outside of the log is crispy and crunchy, and covered with the restaurant’s rocket sauce and cheese sauce.
To my surprise, my mom told the waitress that it was my birthday, so the restaurant gave me a free piece of cake, and the owner came out to sing ” Happy Birthday ” to me. The stay was amazing and so nice. The overall experience of the Anthracite
The cafe was amazing. The food was delicious, and the drinks were amazing. I am so glad that I picked this restaurant to celebrate my 21st birthday.
I give this restaurant a 9.5/10.
