‘Decades’ chosen as 2014 Winter Weekend theme

Get ready to embrace your inner hippie or pull off that Grunge look you always wanted because this year’s theme spans multiple decades.

“Decades” was selected by students Monday as the most popular theme for this year’s Winter Weekend celebration, beating out several other choices include “fruit from a tree.”

“The Decades theme won by a considerable amount, and it can be any decade of the team’s choice (they just obviously cannot overlap between teams),” Taylor Moyer, Student Government vice president, said.

The Winter Weekend events will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.

Although not all activities have been properly set, there are some that have been announced. For Friday, the lineup so far includes a banner and skit competition. Another activity is set to take place that day, but at this time it is yet to be determined.

On Saturday, a surprise competition will likely occur and will resume with more activities in UCOM. It will then end with a trivia competition between teams.

Students who are interested in signing up with friends will need a team captain and the choice of a desired decade. After that decision email Moyer at [email protected].

Registration forms are available in the Student Government office on the first floor of the Henry Student Center. On that form will include all the details including due dates for deposits, T-shirt designs, team decisions and team captain meetings.
