Casino Night provides fun, chances for big prizes

Where can students have a night of fun and possibly win an iPad, 40-inch TV or a Broadway trip? At the annual Casino Week activities Nov. 12-15.
Casino Night, the last night of Casino Week will be 7-10 p.m. Nov.15 at the SUB. This event, hosted by the Wilkes University Student Government, is part of Casino Week, a week where casino games such as black jack, roulette, wheels, bingo, horse racing will be played.
At the beginning of the event, students will be given a cup of coins and three raffle tickets. Students will receive more coins as they win a casino game. The more coins received, the more raffle tickets will be given. At the end of the night, students place their raffle tickets in prize buckets and the prizes will be raffled off.
Student Government has more than 60 prizes to be raffled off during casino week and Casino Night. The prizes that will be raffled are iPads, MacBook Pro, 40-inch Smart HDTV, tickets to New York and a Broadway show, a brand new ski and boots set, $250 Visa gift cards, brand name products, such as Vera Bradley and Coach, and many more.
“The purpose of Casino Night is to give students a chance to step away from the textbooks, have an awesome time and a chance to win prizes,” said Anthony Fanucci, executive treasurer of Student Government, is the coordinator of the event. “The event is important because it one of the largest events on campus for students and thousands of dollars of prizes are won by students each year.”
He also that it benefits the students because they can relax and have a chance to win some incredible prizes.
Samantha Earley, sophomore class representative, is a committee member for Casino Night. She helps with theme and the decorations. She explains how the event benefits student and if the event will be successful.
“Casino Night benefits students because it gives them an opportunity to come out and enjoy a Friday night and win some prizes,” Earley said. “The event will definitely be successful because it has been successful for many years.”
Casino Week starts out with Texas Hold Em Poker Tournament 7 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Ballroom, and Bingo Night Nov. 13, in the Miller Room. All of the events are free with a Wilkes ID.
