Hey there Beacon readers! Once again there’s not much new in the album world except for a select few. First off, Caroline Polachek from the Colorado band Chairlift has a debut solo album out. She goes under her alter-ego “Ramona Lisa” and the album is called Arcadia. Johnny Cash has a new album just released posthumously almost 11 years after his death called “Out Among The Stars.”

It features duets with Waylon Jennings and June Carter Cash. The album is among many lost music sessions Johnny Cash had in the 1980s, but were shelved by his record company. His son John discovered them in 2012 and helped get this recent album released. It’s been said recently that there will be more unheard material released in the future. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart this month.

Lastly, The Divergent movie soundtrack is out and features big artists like Ellie Goulding, Zedd, Skrillex and Tame Impala. Goulding’s “Beating Heart” is the second released single on the album and has peaked at No. 88 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It will be released to radio in late April.

Here are some singles out there I think you should download before your next party. British singer Sam Smith, 21, was recently on SNL to perform. Currently he is featured on Naughty Boy’s song “La La La,” which is grinding up radio right now, and maybe even making you grind? Anyway, check out “Best Friend” from Foster the People. The song is lathered in Indie pop with a feeling of that breeze you get in the pool during mid June. It is sure to be my summer anthem but maybe yours too?

Another song that feels like summer is “On A Roll” by Icona Pop. Although it hasn’t been released as a single, they have just released a video for it. The song is a bit of rock, with a burst of electro pop energy.

The lead guitarist from Fun, Jack Antonoff, will release an album this spring. He goes under the alter-ego Bleachers and has released a song called “I Wanna Get Better.” It’s the catchiest thing you’ll hear this week, I promise. The video was directed by Lena Dunham of “Girls” fame and even features Donna from Parks and Recreation.

Lastly, I know I have mentioned this before, but “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX is so freaking cool. It’s climbing up the charts and I can’t be more happier. Definitely another summer anthem if you ask me.
